Full Description:
Most women juggle marriage, children, and work everyday. A conference on Judaism and women shows how a millennia-old tradition, can help infuse new life and joy into their hectic schedule and how to develop a strong, spiritual center to fuel their life.
The weekend-long event, from the morning of Friday Feb. 3 through the afternoon of Sunday Feb. 5, is an all-women event, with workshops that offer something for all. Held at the Four Points Sheraton, 8110 Aero Drive, San Diego, CA 92123, the conference packages range from $36 to $449. Call (858) 547-0076 x1204 or go to the web site http://sdjw.org to register. Accommodations and child care are also offered.
For the spiritually-inclined, the wit and wisdom of Rabbi Yosef Y. Jacobson, one of the most sought-after Jewish speakers in the world, will offer talks on the art of love as expounded by the Kabala as well as other topics throughout the weekend.
Journalist Molly Resnick – known for her weekly column in the Jewish Press on child care – covers media bias on the Middle East and her own transition from show business to an observant life.
Along with covering politics and mysticism, speakers also address the truly difficult topic of working with adolescent children and helping them navigate that sea of spiritual and hormonal changes.
And what would be a Jewish event without humor? One of the many workshops is a comedy skit that allows women to put their life in perspective with laughter and song.
Other workshops combine spirituality with daily life live and more music. These include the deep meaning of the “eternal flame” or the lighting of Shabbat candles and an all-woman’s choir that commemorates how women kindle light within their homes and the larger community via traditional, Jewish melodies.
Even the arts are part of the event. A Sunday workshop combines meditation and painting in a special hands-on session.
