REVAMPED CARMEL VALLEY RANCH COURSE WILL SHINE
Full Description:
Winding eastbound from Highway 1, the vistas along Carmel Valley Road can challenge even the greatest of imaginations.
At certain times of the day -- especially when the sun begins its slow decent over the western ridge line -- the Santa Lucia mountain range lights up in shades of gold, illuminating such native vegetation as the rare Lucia fir and the numerous strains of bedstraw that coat the mountainside in hues of green and purple.
Near the mile six marker, the last of three magnificent golf courses is visible to the south. For 25 years, the Pete Dye-designed Carmel Valley Ranch has beckoned the best golf travelers like a vintage wine or a 24-year-old single malt scotch.
Lately, however, the 1,700 acre resort has attracted attention for what's not there -- the golf course itself.
