DRAMA KIDS STAGES AN OPPORTUNITY TO EARN ACTING CHOPS AND MORE
Full Description:
While emphasizing theater arts, Drama Kids is more about teaching positive values such as self-confidence and personal presentation than straight-out thespian skills.
“We don’t audition the kids, and this eliminates that awkward competition that you may see in regular plays,” said Kitty Franklin, executive director of Drama Kids International for San Diego.
“Here they all are on the stage, every child participates regardless of their background and experience.”
Drama Kids offers weekly classes offered at Carmel Valley Community Park and Recreation Center. The next session starts Thursday, Jan. 11.. The group for kids ages 5 to 8 meets 4 to 5 p.m., followed by ages 9 to12 from 5 to 6 p.m. It is a 10-week program, costing $130. Tuition includes costumes, props and all the materials required for the play. Each group is limited to 15 students.
